About

Elizabeth Raney’s debut non-fiction book, Warhol, Dr. Seuss and the Making of America has gotten positive reviews and she is off to England in the fall to talk about her book at the Canterbury Arts Conference. Growing up in Los Angeles, Elizabeth spent her time as a competitive swimmer and water polo player. After her grandmother took her to the King Tut exhibit in 1978 her world opened up to art and culture beyond Southern California. She remembers seeing the tomb of King Tut and photos of the Sphinx and was inspired to see these sites in person and learn more about history and art.

Elizabeth has a rich, diverse background working in and studying the arts. She holds a PhD in Cultural Art History from Warnborough College in Ireland and is now working as an art author and critic. One of her most memorable experiences was when she worked at Christie’s Auction House and had the opportunity to hold a real Faberge Egg. She most recently worked at MOCA in Los Angeles educating patrons on contemporary art.

She lives at the beach with her boyfriend and pug named Whiskey. She is still swimming and giving back by volunteering at Pug Nation and as a Patron at the Getty. Moving forward, Elizabeth is interested in bringing to light how art influences culture. She is currently working on her next book More Than Tulips: Van Gogh, Vermeer and Dutch Culture to be released in 2026.
